School Board Policy
Section 510 of the School Code states in part " The board of school directors in any school district may adopt and enforce such reasonalble rules and regulations as it may deem necessary and proper....regarding the conduct and deportment of all pupils attending the public schools in such district, during such time as they are under the supervision of the board of school directors and teachers, including the time necessarily spent in coming to and returning from school."
The Regulations of the State Board of Education, 22 Pa. Code 12.3, deal with the authority of the school board "....to make reasonable and neecessary rules governing the conduct of students in school" and the limitations on that authority. 22 Pa. Code 12.3(c) requires the school board to "....adopt a code of student conduct which shall include policies governing student discipline...."and requires the publication of this code and distribution to students and parents. 22 Pa. Code 12.6(a) requires the school board to "....define and publish the types of offenses that would lead to exclusion from school."
