LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will present the musical, "Altar Boyz," on Friday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. at Bucknell University. Tickets are $25.
"Altar Boyz is a musical-comedy spoof about a fictitious Christian boy-band on the last night of their national 'Raise the Praise' tour," said Bill Boswell, executive director of the Weis Center.
"It's the story of five young guys who have become friends and, like other young adults, are each struggling to find his place in the world.
"With great singing and arrangements and spectacular staging and dancing, this winner of the 2005 Outer Circle Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical is 90 minutes of pure fun," he said.
"Because the Weis Center is a concert hall and not a theater, it is always something of a search to find a New York musical that will actually fit into the venue," Boswell added.
"I am particularly pleased that this show, which is still running just Off-Broadway, will play in our space."
