Congressional Committees

In addition to serving on Class Congresses, each BSG representative also serves on a Congressional Committee. Each of these committees serves a unique function in improving different facets of University life.

  • Academic Affairs

    BSG’s Academic Affairs Committee deals with student issues in relation to the academic arena/agenda at Bucknell University. This committee concerns itself with issues related to faculty, classes, scheduling, curriculum, student-professor relationships, and other related topics.

  • Community Affairs

    BSG’s Community Affairs Committee deals with the relations between the students of Bucknell University and the residents of the surrounding areas. This committee concerns itself with issues related to town-gown relations and organizing social events and community service projects for the Congress.

  • E-Communications

    The eCommunications team is tasked with upkeep of the BSG website, as well as development and implementation of new technology-based initiatives to better get BSG's message out to students.

  • Fiscal Affairs

    BSG’s Fiscal Affairs Committee deals with the allocation of money in regards to student-related issues. This committee deals with issues regarding matters at Bucknell where cost is a major concern for students.

  • Internal Affairs

    BSG’s Internal Affairs Committee deals with the consistent renewal and safeguarding of the BSG constitution and by-laws. This committee focuses on the internal functions of BSG, providing ongoing interpretation, maintenance, and improvement of all BSG documents.

  • Multicultural Affairs

    BSG’s Multicultural Affairs Committee deals with the continual campus awareness, involvement, and participation of student government in events regarding multicultural affairs. This committee is responsible for being a link between BSG and the Multicultural population at Bucknell.

  • Public Affairs

    BSG’s Public Affairs Committee deals with the organization’s efforts to be a transparent governing body. The purpose of this committee is to act as the informational link between BSG and the student body.

  • Residential Affairs

    The Residential Affairs Committee (RAC) deals with the maintenance of a living and learning environment for residents of Bucknell University housing. It serves to promote community building by appropriating funds for Office of Housing and Residential Life (OHRL) programming and expenditures as well as implementing new projects.

  • Student Affairs

    BSG’s Student Affairs Committee deals with betterment of the general welfare of students at Bucknell University. The domain of this committee covers the evaluation, assessment, and improvement of every aspect of student life that is not academically related.
