Code enforcement closes KDR house

Posted: December 05, 2008

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Central Keystone Council of Governments Code Enforcement Office closed the Kappa Delta Rho chapter house at Bucknell University, effective 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, following an inspection during which the house was determined to be uninhabitable.

The Code Enforcement officer found numerous violations in the house late Thursday morning and concluded that the 16 brothers living at the house must vacate it immediately.

The inspection was arranged by the leadership of the KDR chapter. In keeping with its responsibility to enforce public health codes, the local government Code Enforcement Office – not the University – decided to close the house.

The 16 KDR brothers who lived at the house were re-assigned to residences on campus. None of them will be charged for living on campus for the remainder of the semester.
