FAQs

Do I need to sign up for a meal plan every semester?

University policy states that all students living on campus must purchase a meal plan each semester.

Which meal plan should I choose?

First-year students must buy a Anytime Access Plus or Anytime Access Plan. For other students, any meal plan is a good choice. The Anytime Access Plus and the $1,300 Dining Dollar Plan, though, offer the most options. If you want the flexibility of using your dining plan in all campus locations, a plan with more Dining Dollars may be better. This also gives you the flexibility to buy convenience items for your room.  Dining Dollar carry over from semester to semester and from year to year, but they become invalid upon graduation or separation from the university and are not transferable or refundable.

Can I carry out food from Bostwick Marketplace or Terrace Room?

If you are in a hurry, you can give your Bucknell ID to the checker and receive a carry-out container. You will have a short period of time to quickly take something with you. This carry out option is available during the breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal periods.  The carry out option ends at 9:00 PM nightly and can only be used once per meal period.

When are the main Meal Periods?

Meal Periods are as follows:

Monday-Friday

Breakfast  6 am-11 am

Lunch 11 am-5 pm

Dinner 5 pm-9 pm

Late Night 9 pm-12 am

Saturday and Sunday

Continental Breakfast 8 am-10 am

Breakfast 10 am-11 am

Lunch 11 am-5 pm

Dinner 5 pm-9 pm

Late Night 9 pm-12 am

What about paying for guests?

If you are on a Dining Dollar Plan, you can use your Dining Dollars to pay for guests at the Bostwick Marketplace or Terrace Room. Students who choose the Block Meal Plan can use one of those blocks to cover a guest's meal. Each of the Anytime Access Plus or Anytime Access Plans comes with a set number of guest passes that can be used to cover meals of guests. In addition, Anytime Access Plus or Anytime Access Plans owners can use a guest pass for special event meals hosted by student groups.  Guest passes are only valid for the current semester's meal plan.

Can I add more Dining Dollars to my plan during the semester?

Yes, you can add more Dining Dollars to your plan. However, you receive a larger discount if you choose a plan at the beginning of the semester with more Dining Dollars.   Dining Dollars can be added at three convenient locations:  The Bucknell Dining office, the finance office, or in the Bison.  Dining Dollars carry over from semester to semester and from year to year, but they become invalid upon graduation or separation from the university and are not transferable or refundable.

Do remaining Dining Dollars carry over to the next semester?

Yes, Dining Dollars carry over from semester to semester and year to year, but they become invalid upon graduation or separation from the university.

If I live off campus, what meal plans are available to me?

As an off-campus non-resident student, you can buy any meal plan that meets your needs - the Anytime Access Plus or Anytime Access Plans, a Block Meal Plan, or a Dining Dollar Plan. However, you do not need to purchase a University meal plan.

Do fraternity members need to purchase a meal plan?

If you are an active member of a Bucknell fraternity, and you are billed through the university for a fraternity meal plan of equal or greater value to the minimum university dining dollar plan, you do not need to purchase a university meal plan.
