Laundry FAQs

Laundry is now coinless. Coinless laundry was first introduced in January and as of Spring Break 2009, the ablility to use coins was disabled from all campus laundry machines. Along with the launch of coinless laundry system, the university also launched LaundryView, a web site that allows you to view the availabilty and status of laundry machines on campus.

You will need your BU ID to do laundry in all campus laundry machines. The laundry readers use a flexible debit account called campus dollars.

Can I add money to the drying cycle?

When you swipe card for a dryer, the reader will display “MACHINE #X WITH 1 DRY CYCLE”. It will then ask if you would like to add an extra cycle. The display will read, “EXTRA CYCLES?”  If you would like to add extra cycles, enter a number 1-2 and press the enter key. If you do not want to add extra cycles, press clear and press enter to start the machine. Your Campus Dollars account will be debited one dollar plus .25 cents for each additional cycle selected. Press the correct cycle on the machine to start the machine. You should wait until the display counts down to zero before selecting the cycle. If you have chosen to do an extra cycle, the display time will read 75 minutes.

What happens if I don’t have enough funds available?

The reader will display “NO FUNDS AVAILABLE ON SERVICE PLAN”. The machine will not start and the reader return to the start mode. You can go to https://cc-secure.bucknell.edu/uaccounts/ to add money to your Campus Dollars. Only Campus Dollars can be used for laundry. You can also add money to your Campus Dollars at the Card Services or Finance Offices.

There is more than one reader in some laundry rooms. How do I know which one to use?

The following laundry rooms have multiple readers:
McDonnell - both sides
Swartz
Vedder

The readers in these rooms are labeled with the corresponding machines. If, however, you swipe your card in a reader and enter a machine number that is not linked to that reader, the reader will display "INVALID MACHINE #".
