Majors in Political Science will be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental political processes, institutions, actors, behavior, and ideas; and familiarity with major theories, methods, and concepts in Political Science and its four major sub-fields. (1,3,4,5,9)

Demonstrate proficiency in thinking systematically about political interactions in national, global, and international contexts. (1,3,4,6,7,9)

Demonstrate proficiency in thinking systematically about the ethical dimensions of politics. (1,5,6,7,9)

Write effectively, engage in intellectually grounded oral debate, and form and express cogent arguments. (1,6,7,9)

Synthesize, analyze, and critically evaluate major arguments in the discipline. (1,3,4,6,9)

Assess original and secondary sources of argumentation and evidence, and apply scholarly findings to new situations. (1,6,7,8,9)

Demonstrate continuing engagement in public affairs on local, national, and/or international levels. (1,3,4,5,7,9)

Gain intellectual skills for graduate work and employment. (1,6,7,8,9)
