Majors in Environmental Studies (BS) will be able to:

Recognize environmental problems as existing across the margins of scientific, political, and humanistic discourse, amenable best to interdisciplinary comprehension. (1,2,4,8)

Demonstrate basic competence in understanding the geological factors affecting the management of the environment. (1,4)

Demonstrate basic competence in understanding the structure and function of biological ecosystems and ecology.  (1,4)

Demonstrate a thorough competence in understanding either the geological factors affecting the management of the environment or the structure and function of biological ecosystems and ecology. (1,4)

Demonstrate a thorough competence in understanding quantitative and qualitative research methods as applied to questions related to the natural environment. (6)

Demonstrate effective oral and written communication necessary to construct, evaluate, and present solutions to environmental problems. (7)

Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and qualifications necessary for acceptance and success in graduate programs in Environmental Studies and Environmental Science.  (9)

Majors in Environmental Studies (BA) will be able to:

Recognize environmental problems as existing across the margins of scientific, political, and humanistic discourse, amenable best to interdisciplinary comprehension. (1,2,4,8)

Demonstrate basic competence in understanding the geological factors affecting the management of the environment. (1,4)

Demonstrate basic competence in understanding the structure and function of biological ecosystems and ecology.  (1,4)

Demonstrate effective oral and written communication necessary to construct, evaluate, and present solutions to environmental problems. (7)

Understand the challenges and expectations of environmental careers in planning, business, non-profits, law administration, and education. (9)

Non-majors in Environmental Studies will be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of current environmental challenges.
