Department and Program Learning Objectives

Majors in Biochemistry/Cell Biology will be able to:

Demonstrate a working conceptual knowledge of relevant sub-disciplines of biology and chemistry, including molecular and cell biology, genetics, organismal biology, organic, inorganic, analytical and physical chemistry and biochemistry. (1)

Demonstrate laboratory skills in both chemistry and biology. (6)

Demonstrate competence in scientific writing, which includes:

Scientific/critical thinking;
Ability to formulate and test an hypothesis; and
Analysis of evidence and ability to draw conclusions. (7)

Think critically about the impact of biotechnology on social and ethical issues. (5)
