Majors in Religion will be able to:

Understand and appreciate the variety and diversity of religious expression—the ways different peoples understand themselves, their communities, and the universe. (2,3,4,5,9)

Assess religion as an expression of meanings and values in the context of what is perceived as ultimate (1,3)

Relate religious ideas and concepts to other forms of knowledge and interpretive frameworks. (1,2,4,8)

Reflect on the diversity of religious ideas in distinct historical and cultural contexts. (1,2,3,4,6,9)

Interpret truth claims and assess ethical norms of particular religions and traditions. (2,3,4,5,6)

Understand the key principles and methods of research in the discipline of religion. (1,2,3)

Demonstrate integrative, synthesis of knowledge of material found in the curriculum. (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9)

Examine the interaction of religion with cultural institutions, groups, and individuals. (1,2,3,4,6)
Write, reason, and speak effectively. (6,7)
