Highmark Blue Shield Enhanced PPO Plan
The Highmark Blue Shield Enhanced plan is Bucknell University's high option PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plan. This plan provides 100% coverage after applicable deductibles and/or copayments.
PPOBlue gives you freedom of choice and control over your care:
You can receive care from the health care provider of your choice. PPOblue does not require that you select a primary care physician to receive covered care. Instead, the program gives you access to a large network of physicians, hospitals, and other providers.
For a higher level of benefits coverage, you only need to receive care from a network provider. However, for most services you can also go "outside the network" and still receive care that is covered, at the lower out of network level.
You also enjoy a range of covered preventative services. These periodic exams and certain routine tests help you take a "proactive" approach to your health care and can help you avoid costly "reactive" care down the road.
