LEWISBURG, Pa. – You now have one more way to follow what's happening at Bucknell University – on Twitter.

You can follow the University's tweets – 140-character online messages – by visiting BucknellU at Twitter.  Visitors may register for a free account to receive Bucknell's tweets via the web or by text message. Bucknell currently has nearly 1,000 followers on Twitter.

“Our goal is to provide the Bucknell community and friends with daily updates – maybe pointing them to breaking or important news, a feature story highlighting a student or member of our faculty, new web content or a prominent national media mention,” said Tom Evelyn, director of media relations at Bucknell.

Twitter is one of the fastest growing social networking hubs. According to media consulting firm Pipeline Media Relations, Twitter had 17 million registered users in May, up from 4.5 million in January.
