LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Bucknell University will host the workshop, "Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and more — Preparing businesses for the 21st-century customer: Professional Social Networking," on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 1:15 to 4:15 p.m. at the Country Cupboard restaurant, located on Route 15 North, in Lewisburg.
Misty O'Connor, president of Point Click Learn, will lead the workshop. Named one of Pennsylvania's 50 Best Women in Business in 2008, O'Connor has more than 20 years in education, 20 years in the technology field and 15 years in the computer software industry, with expertise in educational technology, Web 2.0 skills, eMarketing stategies, and 21st-century Learner.
Major discussion points include:
· Web 2.0 possibilities for marketing your business, including a quick tour of Blogs, Twitter, Wikis, 2nd Life, Plaxo, Delicious;
· Weeding through numbers of social networking sites filling Web 2.0 to learn which sites are best for professional work time and which as purely social sites;
· Setting up and completing a profile and professional marketing opportunities via LinkedIn and Facebook.
The fee is $35 and includes a one-year (12 issues) subscription to Inc. magazine, valued at $10, and a one-year subscription to Susquehanna Business Life Magazine. One attendee will receive a Microsoft Software product in a random drawing sponsored by CSSI and MSlocalbiz.com. Veterans are welcome to attend free of charge.
