  • Please describe in detail why you want to be a leader of the Civil Rights Spring Break trip. What special skills and abilities will you bring to the experience? Please add any comments you feel would be helpful.
  • List other leadership positions you have held or currently hold.
  • In this trip we are in a communal environment that is often very emotional, exhausting and challenging. Describe how you would balance personally handle this stress while still remaining ready, willing and able to assist other students.
  • Given the following scenarios, what steps or plan would you enact as a student leader?

    a. Prior to the trip, a number of students are not actively engaged in the pre-trip activities.
    b. During a reflection activity on the trip, two students with opposing viewpoints become increasingly animated, to the point where they may be destructive to the group dynamic.
    c. As your group is in traffic heading to the next scheduled activity, you realize that there are no driving directions in the manual.

  • What are some ideas that you have for fundraising and ensuring student commitment, financially, spiritually and emotionally, to the trip?

  • I have read the Civil Rights Spring Break 2012 Student Leader Expectations and Obligations and agree to all conditions relevant to the experience. If I am accepted to go on the trip as a student leader, I will complete the required study in advance, complete pre-departure programming responsibilities, take part fully in all aspects of the trip including fundraising, orientation and debriefing, and use the insight gained to the best of my ability.
