Public Safety continues investigation of mail fraud scam

Several hundred Bucknell University students may have received a letter in their University mailboxes from "Advancedd Collection Services," requesting settlement of debt relating to "unauthorized unpaid downloads," said Public Safety in a Campus Community Advisory. The Department fo Public Safety is investigating the possibility that these letters have been sent as part of a larger mail fraud/debt collection scam and requests the campus community's assistance in this investigation. If you have received this letter or one similar to it from either Cayman Academic Resources or Advanced Collection Services, please notify the Department of Public Safety at publicsafety@bucknell.edu by an e-mail with the subject "2009-12082." The e-mail should provide your name and date you received the letter, and a phone number at which you can be contacted if it is necessary to talk with you to assist in the investigation.
