In Media Res - Academic Symposium

"In Media Res" is a series of programs including an academic symposium that will be held at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania November 13-14, 2009.

Programs include a presentation by the group DUJEOUS, a keynote address delivered by Professor Imani Perry, a lecture by poet/activist Suheir Hammad, and a panel discussion featuring educator/activist Martha Diaz and Gbenga Akinnagbe '00, star of HBO's The Wire. The symposium will feature emerging scholarship on race, gender, class, media, and popular culture.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Registration/participant sign-in for the symposium will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 3:00pm  until 6:00pm and on Saturday, November 14,2009 from 8:00am until 9:30 am in the Lobby of the Vaughn Literature Building. We kindly request that all guests, visitors and university affiliated participants register/sign in.



In Medias Res is loosely defined/ translate as: "in the middle of things or affairs." It is a literary term used to describe the technique that authors/ poets use to pull readers into the narrative by beginning the story in the midst of its narrative arc.
