Samuel Johnson Signature Seal

On the tercentenary of Samuel Johnson's birth, 18 September 2009, Kang Tchou presented Press Director Greg Clingham with the gift of a Chinese signature seal of Samuel Johnson's name, designed by master calligrapher Fang Zhiyuan (seen below).  Now the Press is thrilled to cosponsor his visit to Bucknell on Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 at 7 p.m. in Trout Auditorium.  For more information, please contact Martha Shaunessy at mshaunes@bucknell.edu.

Johnson Tercentenary Events

2009 is the tercentenary of the birth of Samuel Johnson, one of the great writers of eighteenth-century England whose writings in a variety of genres continue to challenge and extend our philosophical, moral and literary experiences.

Johnson Tercentenary Events are scheduled around the world.

Bucknell's Charles H. Watt's Humanities Institute sponsored a celebratory event: Johnson at Bucknell, A Tercentenary Celebration on March 23-24, 2009.
