Joseph Bering, Jr. '74, MD
Joseph Bering, Jr. '74, MD earned his bachelor's degree in Biology and German, receiving the Lambda Phi Alpha National German Honor Society award. He also earned his PA State Teaching certification and 3 Varsity Letters in Football. After graduation, Dr. Bering taught high school Biology, Biochemistry and Anatomy and assisted in coaching Varsity Football and Track teams. During his teaching career he also earned his MS in Biology at Millersville State University then went on to receive his M.D. degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
Dr. Bering is a certified Cardiologist currently affiliated with Susquehanna Cardiology Associates in Williamsport, PA. He is certified with the American Board of Cardiology, American Board of Internal Medicine, National Board of Medical Examiners, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support from John Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Bering has been active in his profession in the sphere of research, presentations and papers relating to his work in the cardiovascular discipline and internal medicine associated fields. He has also been awarded several honors including the Teacher of the Year, Family Practice Residency Program and the American College of Physicians, Pennsylvania Chapter Presentation in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Bering is an associate of numerous Professional Memberships including but not limited to the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American College of Physicians, and the Lycoming County Medical Society.
Joseph and his wife Ann have four children and enjoy family and community activities, hunting, fishing, model railroading, natural history, American history and high school and college sports.
