LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Bucknell University will offer "The First Step: Pre-business Workshop," Wednesday, Nov. 18, in Lewisburg.

Maureen Hauck, assistant director for business consulting at the SBDC, will discuss topics including the unique lifestyle requirements involved in owning a business, how to assess the feasibility of a business idea, various steps to take before opening a new business, how to finance and market a new business, and environmental regulations and legal issues to be considered.

With the Bucknell SBDC since March 2000, Hauck has more than 20 years of business experience including retail management, marketing, advertising, salesmanship, and personnel management. She holds her degrees in business administration and secondary education from Bloomsburg University.

Registration required
The cost to attend is $20 per person. Registration is required. Participants receive a one-year subscription to Inc. magazine, valued at $10.

First Step workshops are offered on a regular basis at each of the 18 SBDC centers in Pennsylvania. Each year, the Pennsylvania SBDCs help thousands of prospective business owners prepare to meet opportunities small business presents. The survival rate of SBDC clients is approximately 35 percent higher than the general population of new business.

The next First Step workshop will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, in Lewisburg.
