LGBT
Available to all members of the Bucknell community, the following supportive resources and helpful references can provide further information about issues of sexual orientation. Materials and services range from basic introductory information to more sophisticated workshops, projects and discussions.
Friendly and supportive staff are available to answer questions, make appropriate referrals, provide support services and furnish educational material.
The Office of LGBT Awareness
The Office of LGBT prepares information sessions, disseminates educational literature and offers a variety of support services for lesbian, gay, and bisexual students, their friends, or family. Call (570) 577-1609 for more information; all messages are discretely returned.
LGBT Advisory Board
A group of faculty, staff and students who meets monthlly to coordinate programming and education on sexual orientation issues for the campus community. Any interested persons are welcome to attend. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month.
FLAG&B/T (Friends of Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals, Transgenders)
Student organization that works to raise consciousness and visibility of lesbian, gay and bisexual issues. FLAG&BT meets weekly and encourages involvement of all interested students. Meeting times are announced in the Bucknell daily publication, "What's Happening."
GALABI (Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Alumni/ae)
This alumni/ae group provides valuable contacts for campus programming and education on lesbian, gay and bisexual issues. GALABI meets annually and holds a reception during Homecoming weekend. Dean of Students and Related Offices
The Offices of the Dean of Students, Housing & Residential Life, Campus Activities and Programs, Multicultural Affairs and International Education are committed to ensuring students' safety and to foster an atmosphere conducive to learning. Psychological Services
Counselors offer a safe place to explore any and all feelings regarding issues of sexuality. Call (570) 577-1604 for an appointment; 24-hour on call for emergencies.
Religion/Spirituality
The University Chaplain offers affirming spiritual support and information on individuals and congregations which welcome lesbians, gay men and bisexuals. Call the Chaplain's office at (570) 577-1592.
Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity and Gender
This office addresses issues of race, class, gender and sexual orientation through curriculum transformation and faculty development. Interesting lectures and workshops are scheduled each semester. Call (570) 577-1545 for more information.
Student Health Services
Bisexual, lesbian or gay students wanting to discuss general and sexual health concerns are welcome to contact Bucknell's Student Health Services staff at (570) 577-1401.
Women's Resource Center
Because sexism, heterosexism and homophobia are closely related, the Women's Resource Center has been a long-time ally of the l/b/g/t community.
