Developing an iPhone app
"The iPhone only came out a few years ago, and Bucknell is already offering a research course on it. It's very cool that we have professors pushing toward the new stuff."
Aurimas Liutikas '12, computer science and engineering
Class of 2012 update: After graduation, Aurimas is going to work as a software engineer at Google in Mountain View, Calif.
"It's an awesome school. Two people from my high school in Norway had come here and told me how nice it is. I went online and read about Bucknell being a top engineering school. I was very tempted since I wanted to pursue computer science. I was hoping to have a good opportunity for my work if I got into Bucknell."
"For the winter break, I worked on a Bucknell iPhone application with Professor Zaccone. His class made most of the parts, and I merged all of the parts together. It's pretty exciting. The iPhone only came out a few years ago, and Bucknell is already offering a research course on it. It's very cool that we have professors pushing toward the new stuff. All of my class projects have been pretty interesting."
"I'm a member of Delta Upsilon and have worked on its internal and external website. You also have the opportunity for leadership roles — I was also the treasurer at DU. In the future, you will be a leader of some sort, if you have a team of two or 100. I also take photos for The Bucknellian, the yearbook and the communications office. Photography gives me a good balance with all of the math and science. Taking pictures completely takes my mind off of things. Some people listen to music. I take pictures."
