"The International Relations major is really cool because it allows you to take classes from a bunch of different disciplines. I can take classes in geography, economics and I can take a language. It's perfect for studying abroad. It just has this huge realm of different opportunities."

Why Bucknell?

"In the beginning, I just came to visit because my dad came here and I wanted to give it a fair shot even though I thought I would immediately decide it wasn't the right place for me. But when I came here, I guess a lot of people say this, I just felt at home.

"When you drive up, coming through U.S. 15, as soon as you take the left into Bucknell, it's like the most beautiful thing you've ever seen in your entire life. It's really collegiate and you just picture yourself in the middle of fall doing homework on the Quad. That stuff actually does happen here. I came once during the fall and people were out on the Quad with Frisbees and blankets and lying out and picnicking. It's nothing that could have just been set up for accepted students' day. It was just like that.

"In high school, I was involved in a whole bunch of stuff. So, when it came around to applying to schools, I really wanted to narrow it down quickly. I applied early decision to Bucknell and it was such an amazing feeling having it out of my hands. I decided on Bucknell right after I had come to see it."

My Major

"When I first got here, I thought that maybe I would go into psychology. And I thought that because my entire life I have just really enjoyed helping people. My No. One joy is just being able to help someone and knowing that whatever you've done has helped them in some way, whether or not that way is really large, or that you just managed to put a smile on their face. So I thought that going into psychology would be really amazing. But after I took a few classes, I realized that the last thing I wanted to do was sit in an office. I wanted a really big variety of problems I could help people deal with and so I decided that psychology wasn't for me.

"After I went with the Bucknell Brigade to Nicaragua ... after I had seen the desperation of people in Nicaragua, I had no choice but to dedicate myself to helping people. The IR (international relations) major is really cool because it allows you to take classes from a whole bunch of different disciplines. I can take classes in geography, economics and I can take a language. It's perfect for studying abroad. It just has this huge realm of different opportunities."

My Activities

"My first year, I did the arts residential college. That was really cool because I was able to live with a whole bunch of people who had the same kind of interests as I do. In high school, I was really involved in art and I thought I might be able to continue with it. Other than that, I'm pretty heavily involved in the Brigade. And I'm in a sorority. I'm in Alpha Chi Omega and that's pretty fun."
