Ellen Clarke Bertrand Society

"I live the way I want to, and that's what matters. My bequest will help Bucknell give students the kind of learning experience that enables them to do the same." -- Barbara Dowell Lancaster '80, San Pedro, Calif.

To this day, Ellen Clarke Bertrand's bequest remains the largest testamentary gift Bucknell has ever received. With the library as its symbol, the Bertrand Society honors Ellen and recognizes the generosity of all alumni and friends who have made planned-giving arrangements with the University, no matter the size of their gift or the designation.

Anyone who has an estate gift planned for Bucknell, or who has completed a life income gift, retained life estate, or other charitable trust is eligible for membership in the Ellen Clarke Bertrand Society.
