Hello my name is Vincent Stephens, and I want welcome you to Multicultural Student Services (MSS). I began as the Director of MSS in August 2011 and am committed to serving as a student advocate and campus liaison for diverse students by providing academic support, cultural programming and service-learning opportunities.
I completed my Ph.D. in American Studies in 2005 from the University of Maryland College Park. Prior to Bucknell I taught and advised students at Syracuse University as a Faculty Fellow in the Humanities. For four years I worked for Syracuse's first-year program SummerStart as an instructor and seminar coordinator. I have taught courses in African-American Studies, American Studies, LGBT Studies and Popular Culture Studies at Bowling Green State University (1997-99), the University of Maryland (1999-2005) and Syracuse (2006-11). Representations of social diversity in popular culture are also integral to several essays I have published in scholarly journals including American Music, Popular Music, and Popular Music & Society.
