Brian C. Mitchell, Bucknell’s 16th president, holds his doctoral degree from the University of Rochester. He came to Bucknell from Washington & Jefferson College, a small liberal arts college near Pittsburgh, where he was president from 1998 to 2004. Before that, he was president of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP), in Harrisburg, Pa., an organization representing private colleges and universities in the state. Mitchell began his official duties July 1, 2004. He succeeded Steffen Rogers, who retired in May 2004.
