Pete Mackey joined Bucknell University as Chief Communications Officer in April 2006.
Prior to joining Bucknell, Mackey served as director of public affairs at the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation in Virginia from its founding. He previously held the position of interim director of communication for Science Foundation Ireland, which the Irish government established to build globally competitive high-tech research programs within its universities and institutes, and for 10 years was director of communication at the University of South Carolina, where he also taught in the South Carolina Honors College.
He graduated with his bachelor's and master's degrees, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in four years, from Case Western Reserve University and earned a doctorate in 20th-century British literature and literary theory from the University of South Carolina. His book, Chaos Theory and James Joyce's Everyman, was published in 1999 by the University Press of Florida.
