Civic Engagement
Be engaged ... with your peers, your community, and the world.
Bucknell values participation in community affairs and seeks to cultivate civic responsibility. Academically based service-learning and co-curricular community service, or volunteering, are integral parts of the educational experience for faculty and students. They find it's a way to make a difference in the community, learn important lessons, and explore community issues that are important to them. Not only does civic engagement help others, it helps students develop leadership skills as educated citizens and make connections between classroom learning and real-world experience. Students interested in nonprofit work can also explore career options.
Bucknell students can volunteer on an individual basis or with a group of friends, join one of our community service organizations, or become active through academic classes, clubs and organizations, sports teams, or fraternities and sororities. Participating in community service and service-learning is a great way to give back to the community, share your talents with others, and learn valuable skills for life beyond college.
