Small Group Seminars
Students in the course select from among nine three-week mini seminars focused on various disiplines. Examples of seminar topics and projects include:
- "Engineering and Drug Delivery." Students explore how medication is distributed through the body
- "Better, Stronger, Faster: Engineering Athletics." Explores the engineering behind sneaker design
- "Rise of the Machines: Programming Robots"
Further Examples of small group seminars include:
- ChemE Car: Professor Tim Raymond - Department of Chemical Engineering
- A CRASH Course in Civil Engineering: Professor Doug Gabauer - Civil and Environmental Engineering
- Entertainment Programming in 3-D Virtual Worlds: Professor L. Felipe Perrone - Department of Computer Science and Engineering
- HALT! Who goes there? Smart Systems Using Digital Logic: Professor Kundan Nepal - Department of Electrical Engineering
- Flinging Things: Engineering a Throwing Machine: Professor Thomas Rich - Department of Mechanical Engineering
- Sustainable Energy: Professor Peter Stryker - Department of Mechanical Engineering
- Better, Stronger, Faster: Engineering Athletics: Professor Margot Vigeant - Department of Chemical Engineering
- Drug and Drug Delivery: Professor Eric Kennedy - Department of Biomedical Engineering
- Bridges, Flows, Forces and Failures: Professor T. Michael Toole - Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

"I love teaching ENGR100. I think the best part of ENGR100 is that the seminars and the projects allow students to find out for themselves that although the engineering disciplines differ from each other, the overall engineering design process really remains the same and that a successful engineering project requires the contribution of multiple engineering disciplines."
