As part of a project supported by the Office of Naval Research, Bucknell worked with the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) in Pensacola, Florida to develop a bipedal (two-legged) robotic walker for use in urban environments. The focus of this senior design project was to design, fabricate, assemble, test, and refine vision "head" to be incorporated into the current overall design. The "head" needed to provide telepresence to an operator via computer and/or vision goggles. The "head" or alternatives also had to be able to provide information about potential obstacles to aid in the assistance of walking.
