Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania at Bucknell is an AmeriCorps Education Award Only program.
This means that participating students enroll as AmeriCorps members on a part-time basis and receive a partial Education Award at the end of their term. Students elect to serve either 300 or 450 hours of community service during the course of the year. Students select a project or organization of their choice and work with them for the duration of the year. In the past, Scholars have worked with a Community Clinic in Sunbury, created the Community Harvest hot meal program, volunteered with the Red Cross, and worked at the Milton YMCA to name a few.
In the 2012-2013 school year, 7 Scholars worked on projects like these:
|Breeze Victor||Assist with recruiting and training tutors in addition to tutoring local elementary students|
