How can you help?
1. Volunteer to either help serve or set up for our weekly meal!
Each week we serve our weekly meal on Mondays at 5:00 p.m. and clean up is finished around 7:00 p.m. For information about what is included with assisting with serving the meal and clean up, click here.
2. Donate!
The approximate cost of this hot meal program operated entirely by volunteers year round is just $300 a week which breaks down to approximately $1.50/person to feed. We need your assistance in order to continue this important resource in our community. We'd be happy to publicize the sponsors of each week's meal to Community Harvest patrons and the local community, who very much appreciate the opportunity for a nutritious meal and fellowship with others. In addition, we would be happy to advertise our sponsors on our website.
To donate with cash or check, please send it to: Community Harvest, 119 Bertrand Library, Bucknell University, Lewisburg PA 17837
To donate online, please visit: http://www.bucknell.edu/script/Gifts/ (In the drop down menu select "Other" and in the designation box type "Community Harvest")
Other helpful donations are grocery store gift cards (Weis and Wal-mart), canned goods (canned fruit, vegetable, soups or sauces), pasta, and rice.
3. Cooking!
Like cooking? Each week, we serve nearly 200 patrons which includes families, seniors and children. Meal preparation while rewarding, can be an undertaking that takes more than one "cook." The meals are prepared in the kitchen at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Milton with food ordered from Parkhurst Dining Services at Bucknell University.
If you or a group of people are interested becoming involved, please contact Lynn Pierson at lcp008@bucknell.edu or 570-577-1292. View Community Harvest's brochure here.
