LEWSIBURG, Pa. — Following a comprehensive, national search, Interim Vice President Scott Rosevear has been appointed to the position of Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Bucknell University, President John Bravman announced.
"We were fortunate to have a very strong pool of candidates, which included every finalist serving as either vice president or associate vice president in their organizations, some of whom represented far larger or wealthier schools than Bucknell," said Bravman, who thanked the search committee for their service. "It is to Scott's credit that he demonstrated at every phase of the search that he was the right candidate to lead the strong team that is our DAR office."
Rosevear, who has extensive campaign and development experience and led the division during a previous transition, has been with DAR since 1999. He served as associate vice president for the division from 2006 to 2010, when he was named interim vice president. He replaced the division's former vice president, Sam Lundquist, who left in April for a position at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
As vice president, Rosevear is responsible for all fundraising efforts, from strategy to results; relationships with alumni, parents and volunteers; career services for students and alumni; prospect research and management; advancement information services; gift processing; and managing the University's comprehensive fundraising campaign.
During his time as associate and interim vice president, Rosevear "has helped lead the fundraising team to the three strongest fundraising years in Bucknell's history, developed effective partnerships with colleagues on campus, built meaningful relationships with stakeholders across our constituency, and earned the respect of leaders across the advancement field," Bravman said.
"The comprehensive campaign in which Bucknell embarked in 2007 is critical to the goals the University has set for itself, notably in its strategic plan, The Plan for Bucknell," Bravman added.
$170 million in gifts
Rosevear has helped the University to raise nearly $170 million in gifts during the "private phase" of the campaign, despite the economic downturn.
The search committee, chaired by Provost Mick Smyer, included Jim Baish, professor of mechanical and biomedical engineering; Keith Buffinton, interim dean of the College of Engineering; Mike Cover, treasurer and controller; Carol Gadd, assistant dean of admissions; John Hardt, director of Athletics and Recreation; Bill Kenny, professor of music; Carrie Rampp, director of Library Services; George Shields, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; and Christina Wallace, senior writer in the Office of Communications.
