SBDC workshop: 'Social media marketing bootcamp'

LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Bucknell University will offer the two-day workshop, "Social Media Marketing Bootcamp," May 10 and 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Mifflinburg Bank's Community Room, 250 E. Chestnut St. in Mifflinburg.
Daniel Gasteiger, a business analyst and technical writer, will discuss how to use search engine optimization and social media marketing. A graduate of Cornell University, Gasteiger was formerly with Lotus Development Corporation, creators of the 1-2-3 electronic spreadsheet. He is the author of more than 300 consumer magazine articles and several books.
Topics on May 11 include ways to find your future fans or customers (market research), study your competitors and prospects, build a blog the best possible way and tell your story.
Topics on May 12 include advice to improve your customer experience through social networking, build authority for your website through systematic link-building, tune it up, and build your own authority through social networking.
Participants who bring their own laptops and complete the bootcamp will leave with their own basic social media marketing system in place

The cost to attend is $50 per person per day; the fee includes one-year subscriptions to Inc. and Susquehanna Business Life magazines. Registration is required as seating is limited.
