Opening Ceremony
in front of the Arts Building
Saturday, August 27, 2011 – 9:30 - 9:55 a.m.
Arts. Everywhere. is a celebration of the arts — visual, theatrical, literary, cinematic, performative, conceptual, and kinesthetic — designed to highlight the centrality of the arts to Bucknell University's mission. The festival is open to the entire University, as well as the local and regional communities. Arts. Everywhere. features performances, exhibitions, presentations, and creative engagements from Bucknell students, faculty, administrators, as well as from other professional artists outside our community.
The opening event for Arts. Everywhere. is a participatory event featuring welcoming comments by Associate Provost Robert Midkiff, visual artist Nancy Cleaver, and playing of Tibetan bowls by Jessica Rasp. We ask attendees to think of one word that they associate with the arts and the spirit of creativity. We will also have a short spiral community dance, led by Professor of Dance Dustyn Martincich, to begin the day's festivities. Activities in front of the Art Building continue on Sunday with the creation of a gravel mandala.
