LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Campus Theatre in Lewisburg will host "The Happy Happy Song and Dance Show" children's performance on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m.
Six student members of the Bucknell Dance Company will join local song-artist Billy Kelly and his band, the Blahblahblahs, in the debut performance. The hour-long work features 10 separate dance pieces, including one danced by local children.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children, and $15 for a family rate. Call 570-768-4081 for reservations.
Bringing dance to children
Kelly Knox, an associate professor of dance at Bucknell, created the show to bring dance to the children of the community.
"This show is a toe-tapping, humming, smiling, gleeful romp intended for kids of all ages and slated to become a favorite annual event," said Knox.
"The newly restored Campus Theatre is the perfect venue to welcome the greater central Susquehanna community to participate in an afternoon of dance, live music and playful video montages.
"This debut performance also will help launch the family-centered blog, 'Yo! Community,' a new online community resource with the mission of supplying local people of all ages with fun, interesting and informative activities as well as news of events taking place in our area."
A Lewisburg local, Billy Kelly has developed a national reputation as a children's songwriter. He has three CDs of witty, endearing songs that speak to children and adults alike with their intellectual humor and creativity.
