Recent Strides, Future Plans

Bucknell University has always prepared students to meet the challenges of their time, and it continues to do so at this moment.

The world today is unlike anything the University's founders might have imagined. Globalization brings distant cultures together. New technologies have transformed the social fabric. And humanity faces vast and complex social and environmental challenges.

We are planning carefully to ensure that students receive an education that's relevant to these issues and valuable to those who learn on our campus and to the rest of the world, in which our 50,000 alumni are agents for change.

Significant progress

Since 2006, the University's strategic plan, The Plan for Bucknell, has propelled Bucknell toward the future by providing five overarching goals as a guide for decision making: strengthen the academic core, deepen the residential experience, enhance diversity, build bridges and secure the financial future of the University. Following these goals, we have already made great strides in teaching, learning and research, and we will continue to forge ahead to provide the right programs, people and resources our students will need to be prepared to address the issues of the 21st century.

On these web pages you will find highlighted just some of the many strides Bucknell has made in recent years toward fulfilling its greatest aspirations.
