Linda Locher, Ph.D.
Director of Psychological Services / Staff Psychologist
Dr. Linda Locher received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology (1982) and her M.A. in both Counseling Psychology and Counseling & Guidance from The Ohio State University. She is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia.
Linda works with students' strengths, helping students to identify how that have learned or acquired both positive and problematic behaviors. Trained in multiple modalities of therapy she focuses on developing a supportive working relationship in therapy and employing cognitive behavioral interventions, psychodynamic theory and client centered approaches as best needed to assist an individual and address the issues of interest. In addition to her experience as a clinician, Linda has taught at the college graduate and undergraduate levels and directed academic skills programs. These experiences inform her work with students who are looking to improve their study skills and learning strategies.
Linda's areas of interest include: depression and anxiety issues, perfectionism and self-esteem concerns, identity development, women's issues, learned helplessness and optimism, and learning strategies and study techniques.
