Working Off Campus
Opportunities for work are not simply restricted to on-campus jobs. Often students staying here over the longer breaks will take advantage of doing OPT - Optional Practical Training - or CPT - Curricular Practical Training.
OPT - Any form of temporary employment for practical training directly related to the student's major area of study. Usually performed while the school is not in session, if the student is currently enrolled and eligible (and intends) to register for the next term, but also possible while the school is in session as long as not exceeding 20 hours per week.
CPT - Includes work/study programs, cooperative education programs; any type of required internships or practicum offered by sponsoring employers. Must be credit-bearing i.e. be in conjunction with a course, and is only available to students that have been enrolled for at least one full academic year (9 months).
More information about these options can be found here.
