• Solar Scholars renewable energy workshop May 12
  The Bucknell University Solar Scholars will present a "Renewable Energy Workshop" May 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Advance registration is recommended.

  A plant sale will be held Saturday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lewisburg Community Garden, located at the intersection of St. Anthony Street and Water Street.

  Gary Steiner, John Howard Harris Professor of Philosophy, discusses animal rights and the vegan imperative.

• Students combat pain, poverty in Dominican Republic

• New appointment to Rooke Professorship in Engineering
  Michael Prince, a professor of chemical engineering at Bucknell University, has been appointed to the Robert L. Rooke Professorship in Engineering.
• Researchers investigate how some bats survive with white-nose syndrome
  Two Bucknell professors have received a U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service grant to find out whether certain genetic characteristics, behavior and environmental factors contribute to the severity of the white-nose syndrome, which has killed up to 6.7 million bats in eastern North America.
• Outstanding achievement in the liberal arts
  Bucknell's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest honorary society, inducted 43 new members at a ceremony Friday at the Campus Theatre. Members are selected for scholastic achievement, intellectual honesty, and evidence of a broad range of intellectual interests in the liberal arts.
• Professor's study of blood vessels could aid in cancer drug delivery
  Professor James Baish and clinical collaborators in Boston have found a way to map the shape and space between blood vessels in tumors, a discovery that could allow drug companies to better design and doctors to more precisely prescribe cancer-fighting drugs.
• Campus Theatre renovation project honored by AIA
  The Campus Theatre Renovation Project has been honored with a Citation of Merit for Architectural Excellence by the American Institute of Architects' Pennsylvania Chapter.

• President's second patent furthers cardiac stent progress
  Bucknell University President John Bravman has developed a patented coating that may make coronary stents safer for heart disease patients.
• Bucknell events April 28 and 29 part of Lewisburg Arts Weekend
  The 43rd annual Lewisburg Arts Festival will be held April 27 through May 12. The festival will include the Market Street Festival April 28 with art, entertainment and food along Market Street. As part of the festival, Bucknell University will host several related events.

  Bucknell University will present two concerts by the Rooke Chapel Ringers and the Rooke Chapel Choir on April 28 and 29 respectively.
• Bucknell Dance Company spring concert April 27 and 28
  The Bucknell Dance Company will present its annual spring concert April 27 and 28, at 8 p.m. in the Weis Center. The program will feature a mix of modern, ballet and tap dance, with original choreography by guest artists Nick Ross and Melissa Bobick.
• BUEC sustainable backyard grand re-opening April 27
  The Bucknell University Environmental Center will hold a grand re-opening of the BUEC sustainable backyard on Friday, April 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will include tours, presentations and native plant giveaways.
• Bucknell students April 26: 'A solution to the Federal Budget Problem'
  A panel of Bucknell University students will present "America is Drowning in Debt: A Solution to the Federal Budget Problem," April 26 at 7 p.m. in Trout Auditorium of the Vaughan Literature Building.
• Inuit activist April 26: global climate change and human rights
  Sheila Watt-Cloutier, a 2007 Nobel Peace Prize nominee, will discuss global climate change and human rights April 26 at 8 p.m. in the Forum of the Elaine Langone Center.
• Beautiful Mind author April 25: 'Grand Pursuit of Economic Thinkers'
  Sylvia Nasar, author of A Beautiful Mind, will give the talk, "Big Government, Small Government and the Grand Pursuit of Economic Thinkers," April 25 at 7 p.m. in Trout Auditorium.
• 'Climate Refugees' documentary April 24 at Campus Theatre
  The Bucknell University Environmental Center's "Green Screens" series concludes for the semester with the documentary, "Climate Refugees," April 24 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Theatre in Lewisburg. General admission is $2 per person.
• Woodard to discuss grassroots development in Nicaragua April 24
  Sarah Woodard will discuss "Challenges of Grass Roots Development in Nicaragua" April 24 at 7 p.m. in the Gallery Theater of the Elaine Langone Center. The presentation will feature a slide show and the sale of hand-made Nicaraguan crafts.
• Jewish resistance fighter: April 23 Yom HaShoah observance
  Moshe Baran, a partisan/resistance fighter during World War II, will give the talk, "Resistance in Peace and War Times," April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Forum of the Elaine Langone Center at Bucknell as part of the University's observance of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.
• Students, LARA, host pool pass fundraiser April 22
  Bucknell University students are working with LARA on a fun run/walk and Zumbathon fund-raising project in memory of two local children who drowned in the Susquehanna River in August 2009.
• Jazz Band concert April 20: guest artist, world premiere
  The Bucknell University Jazz Band will perform with guest artist Chris Vadala on April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Weis Center. The concert will feature the world premiere of a brand new work written for the occasion by composer Rick Hirsch.
• 'Water, Water Everywhere ... ' weeklong teach-in April 16-19
  Bucknell University will host a weeklong teach-in, "Water, Water Everywhere," April 16 through 19, exploring the importance of water in an environmentally challenged 21st century from interdisciplinary perspectives in a series of snaptalks and presentations.
• Wycliffe Gordon Quintet in concert April 18 at Campus Theatre
  The Wycliffe Gordon Quintet will perform April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Theatre as the final event in the spring Janet Weis Jazz Cabaret Series. The program will feature music from "Hello Pops, A Tribute to Louis Armstrong."
