Cabaret Jazz Series resumes with Randy Napoleon Quartet

LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Janet Weis Cabaret Series at Bucknell University resumes for the spring semester on Wednesday, Feb. 8, with a performance by the Randy Napoleon Quartet at 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Weis Center at Bucknell.
This series, which is free and open to the public, is made possible by funding from the Weis family.
Jazz guitarist A jazz guitarist, composer and arranger, Napoleon is a member of the Freddy Cole Quartet and a leader of his own trio and his own quartet.
He has toured with Benny Green, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and with Michael Bublé for three years; Bublé called him "the most exciting guitarist of our generation."
He has appeared on TV in Japan with CHJO and throughout Europe and the United States with Bublé, including "David Letterman," "Jay Leno," "Dancing with the Stars" and "Entertainment Tonight" as well as the PBS special, "Caught in the Act."
He also has performed with jazz artists including The Bill Charlap Trio and with cabaret artists including Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano in venues across the United States, including Lincoln Center, The Hollywood Bowl, The Kennedy Center, Radio City Music Hall and throughout the world in London and Sydney.
Cabaret Jazz at Campus Theatre Other performances in the spring series include two concerts in the Campus Theatre.
The Jane Monheit Quartet will perform on Wednesday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. Starting her career at the age of 20 and awarded with the first prize at Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute's vocal competition, Jane Monheit became an extraordinarily gifted jazz vocalist whose sincere and romantic interpretations of exceptional songs has made her a favorite in both the jazz and cabaret worlds and garnered numerous accolades in the past decade.
The Wycliffe Gordon Quartet will perform on Wednesday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. A former veteran member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet, Gordon has been honored as the Jazz Journalists Association's Trombonist of the Year six times, including 2011, and as the Jazz Journalists Association's Critics' Choice award for best trombone.
