"Common Ground has done so much for me. Now it's my turn to pay it forward."

Update: After graduation, Capri will join Teach for America in Philadelphia.

"I wanted an adventure during fall break. I considered going rock climbing with a campus group, but then I decided to join a trip with a group called Common Ground. I hardly knew anything about it, but a friend promised me it would change my life.

"The trip turned out to be a diversity immersion retreat for between 60 and 90 students. What I learned - about the issues, myself, and about others - and the way in which I learned them, are beyond comparison. It was a truly educational, mind-expanding, and enriching experience. I'm so committed to it, I even gave up studying abroad to become the program's director.

"We have plans for Common Ground to participate in Diversity Pride week in April, facilitate activities for the Diversity Club at Lewisburg High School, and hold a gala. We also want to tie in our group with the Resident Assistants' Diversity Committee to further our shared goals of awareness, equality and understanding.

"Common Ground has done so much for me. Now it's my turn to pay it forward."

Capri is from Harrisburg, Pa.
