LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Nordwest Deutsche Philharmonic will perform in concert with Eugene Tzigane, conductor, and Amit Peled, cello soloist, on Friday, March 2, at 8 p.m. in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University.
The program includes Grieg's "Peer Gynt Suite No. 1," Victor Herbert's "Cello Concerto No. 2 in E Minor" and Shostakovich's "Symphony No. 9 in E-flat Major."
The Nordwest Deutsche Philharmonic has served as the pinnacle of the concert life of northwestern Germany and a cultural ambassador throughout Europe and the world for more than 60 years.
The orchestra regularly visits Denmark, Austria, Holland, Italy, France, Switzerland and Spain, and successful international tours have been made of Japan and the United States.
Tickets are $25 per person. Discounts for senior citizens and students are available.

Tickets also are available in person from several locations including the Weis Center lobby weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University bookstore in Lewisburg weekdays and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 12:30 to 4 p.m.; and the CAPS Center Box Office, located on the ground floor of the Elaine Langone Center, weekdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tickets also may be purchased one hour prior to each performance.
The final event in this season's Weis Center series is a concert on March 23 with violinist Jennifer Frautschi and pianist Paavali Jumppanen. Tickets are $20 for the March 23 performance.
