What did you most enjoy about your internship?
I enjoyed the fact that I was working for a company that could help reduce America's dependence on foreign oil and is cleaner for the environment. The natural gas that Clean Energy sells is American and it is 30% cleaner than conventional gasoline and 50% cleaner than diesel. The work environment was friendly but hardworking at the same time, which was a good balance.
What was the most difficult aspect of the internship?
The most difficult aspect of my internship was always being on my toes. It was important to finish an assignment as quickly and effectively as possible because I never knew when I would get pulled into a meeting or conference call, or when my boss would give me a new assignment to finish.
How did your experience at Bucknell prepare you for your internship?
As a management major at Bucknell, I was prepared to handle the amount of work that I encountered while working at Clean Energy. The lessons I have learned in various management classes also helped me, particularly working on a computer. Additionally, I am on the water polo team, so my time management skills helped me prioritize my assignments to efficiently perform my work.
How did your internship prepare you for a career?
The amount of knowledge that I gained during my internship was staggering. It exposed me to so many different aspects of a work environment, such as dealing with a boss, addressing employees with professional language in emails and on the phone, speaking in front of a large, high-ranking group of employees and so many more invaluable lessons.
What recommendations do you have for other students considering doing an internship?
Definitely pursue an internship. It will greatly prepare you for your future career. It helps to pick an internship that you are very interested in because you will be more motivated to work hard for your boss and your company.
