Over time and distance, the equal rights of women have progressed. We celebrate the achievements of women while remaining vigilant and tenacious for further sustainable change. There is global momentum for championing women's equality. Celebrated around the world on March 8.

Bucknell will celebrate on Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday March 7 with awareness activities in the ELC Mall.

Global Women Film Series

"Entre Nos" -- Mariana is the definition of determination because she fights through various adverse situations to keep her family together. In reference to her children, Gabriel, 10, and Andrea, 6, have grown up in the country and culture of Colombia without their father. He took a voluntary migration trip to the United States years earlier in order establish a foundation for a better life for his family. Finally after dealing with separation for many years the family is reunited in New York City. In Entre Nos, Mariana, Gabriel and Andrea are symbols of hope for the American dream. They take us on a remarkable journey where we bear witness to family commitments in love to survive.

Global Women Film Series

"Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai" -- Taking Root tells the dramatic story of Kenyan Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai whose simple act of planting trees grew into a nationwide movement to safeguard the environment, protect human rights, and defend democracy-a movement for which this charismatic woman became an iconic inspiration. Taking Root is the most comprehensive, in-depth film about Wangari Maathai available. It was made in close collaboration with her during the last decade of her life.
