Conflict and Peace in Northern Ireland (GEOG/PSYC 330)

Bucknell in Northern Ireland is a a three-week study abroad program in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland studying conflict and peace in Northern Ireland. This program is offered in cooperation with the Holywell Consultancy, a peace-oriented organization in Northern Ireland, and Magee College, the Derry campus of the University of Ulster. In this community-based learning program, students are placed with community partners to conduct research and insight into the history and future of the peace process.
The program includes academic (lectures, readings) and community (organization placements) activities, brief excursions to nearby sites of historical and political interest, and day trips to areas of stunningly scenic beauty. || Learn about the course info, program cost, information sessions, and application documents.
Each student is assigned to work three days per week in a community organization devoted to some aspect of the peace process, including conflict resolution, reconciliation, and the like. This work makes up the service-learning component of the program, and is the major activity associated with GEOG/PSYC 330: Conflict and Peace in Northern Ireland.
