Observatory Open House to be held Sept. 22

LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Observatory at Bucknell University will host an Open House Saturday, Sept. 22, from 8 to 11 p.m.

The Open House will feature tours of the facility including the newly restored 125-year old Clark refracting telescope and several modern reflecting telescopes.

Ned Ladd, associate professor of physics and astronomy, will give the short talk, "Dec. 21, 2012: End of the World or Beginning of Winter?" at 8 and 10 p.m.

Weather permitting, the Observatory's telescopes will focus on the moon, stars and galaxies.

This event, which is free and open to the public, will be held rain or shine.

The Bucknell Observatory is located on the southern end of campus, next to the Mathewson-Memorial football stadium. For more information, call 570-577-1207.
