Physical Fitness

Get Moving

Regular physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your overall wellbeing. Being more active can help you:

  • Increase your chances of living longer
  • Feel better about yourself
  • Sleep well at night
  • Move around more easily
  • Stay at or get to a healthy weight
  • Be with friends or meet new people
  • Enjoy yourself and have fun

Make Room for Exercise in Your Day

Fitting regular exercise into your daily schedule may seem difficult at first, but in reality, it doesn't have to be done all at once. Ten minute intervals of moderate level activity is all you have to do at a time. Get a group of friends and take a brisk walk at lunch, meet a friend after work, one day a week, and walk together to catch up. Get a fitness buddy, activity is more fun with a friend, and you will be helping someone else feel better as well!

Activity Guidelines

So, how much activity do you really need? That depends on your goals, current activity level, age, etc. A good guide to follow can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website:
