We lead by example.
Steve Holmes ’79, P’06, P’08
Trustee Steve Holmes ’79, P’06, P’08 didn’t hesitate when President John Bravman asked him to chair the campaign. Giving to Bucknell—and communicating that need to others—is personal for Holmes and his wife, Bonnie Bencsko Holmes ’79, whose three children attended Bucknell.
“We are proud and grateful to give back to an institution that has given us so much,” he said. “Everybody needs to have a direction for their philanthropy, and Bucknell has a very strong place in our hearts.”
Steve recently chaired the presidential search that brought President Bravman to the University. His and Bonnie’s recent gifts include the Holmes Family Diversity Scholarship and Holmes Stadium.
“Bucknell cannot have its strong positive impact on students without financial contributions. As an institution, we can’t thrive if not for donors,” said Holmes. This is the action-oriented spirit of the campaign.

Two-hundred forty-seven Bucknell student-athletes posted a GPA of at least 3.50 and scored a spot on the 2012 fall semester dean's list. They included 36 team captains and 26 student-athletes who earned perfect 4.0 averages.
