Scholarships

The Leanne Freas Trout Scholarship in French and Francophone Studies is awarded annually to a member of the rising junior class. It is designed to recognize high academic achievement in French, strong promise of active and enthusiastic linguistic and cultural immersion, and positive leadership within the classroom and program.

The Candis Boyer Coxe Cultural Enrichment Fund provides a limited number of scholarships for students who wish to spend a semester or a year abroad in the Bucknell en France program and for whom the choice to study abroad presents a financial challenge. This fund is designed to enhance students' cultural immersion experience while alleviating some of the financial pressures of international study.

Prizes and Awards

Every academic year, during Commencement Weekend at the President's Senior Award Ceremony, Bucknell offers two endowed and named awards for excellence in French and Francophone studies to members of the senior class.

Samuel Lewis Ziegler Prize

Established by the late Samuel Lewis Ziegler, M.D., LL.D., Class of 1880, this prize is awarded to the member of the class in French conversation who excels in this subject.

The Jeannine C. Liutkus Prize

This prizes is given to the Bucknell en France student who, through individual initiative and perseverance, improved his or her proficiency in French, made the most of the opportunity to live in the French culture, and showed significant personal growth.
