LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Bucknell Faculty Woodwind Quintet will perform a free concert on Wednesday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rooke Recital Hall of the Weis Music Building at Bucknell University.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by Bucknell's Department of Music.

This inaugural performance of the faculty quintet features Bucknell University Artist Affiliates Leslie Cullen, flute; Karena McCarty, oboe; Colleen Hartung, clarinet; Trina Gallup, bassoon; and Bucknell Professor of Music William Kenny, horn.

The program includes standard works for the woodwind quintet including compositions by Malcolm Arnold, Franz Danzi, and Jacques Ibert, according to Kenny. The performance will conclude with a witty arrangement of American Folk tunes written by hornist Kazimeriz Machala.

Cullen, who lives in Lewisburg, teaches flute at Bucknell, Susquehanna University and Lycoming College, and performs worldwide as flutist in the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra.

McCarty, of Bloomsburg, also teaches at Bucknell. She studied oboe at Bloomsburg University and Temple, and performs in a variety of ensembles including the Northern Tier Symphony Orchestra.

Hartung, of Lewisburg, received her doctorate in clarinet performance from Michigan State University, and performs regularly in the Allentown and Williamsport Symphony Orchestras.

Gallup, of Millheim, earned degrees from Susquehanna University and The Pennsylvania State University, and is a sought-after bassoonist throughout the region, performing regularly with the Nittany Valley and Williamsport Symphonies and the Penn Central Wind Band.

Kenny, who has been principal horn in the Williamsport Symphony for more than 20 years, is hornist for the Commonwealth Brass Quintet, and also appears as performer and conductor in a variety of venues throughout the region.
